Dr. Sondreal joined the Edina Eye Clinic in 1988 with a broad background in surgical and medical eye care. He completed his medical school training at the University of Wisconsin, followed by an interlude in the USAF as a Flight Surgeon. He then completed his Ophthalmology Residency at the University of Minnesota. He practiced in Bemidji, MN for several years before returning to Edina. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Intraocular Implant Society, the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Society of Research to Prevent Blindness. He has been recognized by the Consumers Research Council as Top Ophthalmologist.
He enjoys the personal relationships developed over the years of medical practice. He and his wife have raised three daughters and are enjoying time with their first grandchild. His other interests include travel, music, photography, growing roses, reading history and biography.
